A private poop log for iPhone, inspired by kanben

Press kit · Updated October 3, 2026

You look. Porcelain notices.

In Japan there's a word for taking a quick look at your poop before you flush: kanben (観便). Yoshitaka Nakao, an independent developer in Japan, turned that small habit into Porcelain, a calm iPhone app for people in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia and New Zealand. There's no account, no ads and no data collection, the price is shown up front, and your logs stay on your iPhone.

Facts

No scores and no streaks: Porcelain never labels poop as good or bad. It's for personal record-keeping and isn't intended to diagnose or treat any condition.

Why kanben

Kanben is a few seconds of attention, not a test. When you know what's usual for you, a change is easier to notice and easier to describe, for example “mostly type 4, once a day.” Porcelain keeps that record quietly and lets you decide what to do with it.
